Smart bands and watches have become like the next wave of mobile tech innovation but they are still relatively young in making a formidable stand to convince the populous. we do love some of them quite well (...Moto 36 ummm!) and are excitedly expecting some (...cough *Apple* cough) but all in all, we are excited on how wearable tech are evolving.
we stumbled upon this mysterious looking band thing and thought...hey, another one *pffft*...but we have got to say (...since it got on our blog, it is special) it is interesting.
The Neptune Duo comprises of two devices acting as one, a watch called the Neptune Hub and a handset (...sort of) called the Pocket Screen.
The Neptune Hub is a full fledged stand alone smart device, with a curved 2.4" display, quad core processor, various connectivity like LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and NFC. the device comes with Android Lollipop (...version 5.0, we covered that so check back) that has been modified to be more compatible on the band and be better functional. like its ability to recognize handwriting and translate to text.
Looking at the other, the Neptune Pocket Screen, is a device that very much will feel like a smart phone to you but its not. featuring a 5" touch screen, front and back cameras, speakers, vibrators (...not that kind), microphone and a 2800mAh battery. The Pocket screen however is just a mirror device for the Neptune Hub, meaning with a tap of the two, the screen of the Hub is transferred to the Pocket Screen so you can handle it like a phone. should the Pocket Screen get missing, the user has nothing to worry about as all info, even apps and all are stored on the Hub not the Screen. The user also can make use of any Pocket Screen to mirror their hub, meaning the Pocket Screen is not tied to any particular Hub.
The Neptune Duo is set to be released later 2015 with a price tag of about $800 (...CBN ooooo!!!).
Our thoughts, we likey and we would give 4 stars out of 5 though that is subject to change on testing the device. The Neptune Duo look stunning and seem quite powerful in handling tasks. the screen mirroring is a very nice touch too and yes we didn't mention but the Pocket Screen can charge the Hub should it run low on battery. the Hub still looks quite bulky on the wrist though but its an effort in the right direction, over time such wearable devices will get slimmer and more compact.
