MICROSOFT SURFACE 3 IS A MUST BUY OR DIE TABLET PC...GIVE US.

When it comes to getting a sleek portable PC (...laptop), there's always the contemplation of Tablet or Laptops which are bigger, usually heavier but pack more power under the hood (...CPU, GPU, battery etc) compared to Tablets with their portability, light weight and these days gets most basic jobs you need done without your PC via apps and all.

Tech companies have been slimming down laptops to blur the line with Tablets (...ultra-books) but Tablets still tend to have their distinct line as running full desktop version software is not their thing thus depending on your needs, a tablet could just do or it could not be enough.

Microsoft with their popular Surface  line of products (...their Tablet PC, with a kickstand and detachable cover keyboard) have been working hard to close that gap for customers and though initially chose to separate the two via operating system (...Windows RT and proper Windows, yes you probably never heard of RT but it was designed to run mobile version apps alone of their desktop software counterparts, this did not do well in the market), now they have found a way to bridge a proper tablet and a full functional laptop.
Enter the Surface 3, dont confuse it with Surface Pro 3 which is more of a power house Ultra-book-Tablet hybrid device. The Surface 3 is designed as a Tablet, comfortable, light, handy but yet packs the full power of a complete computer system (...do not compare this to a mini-PC, worlds apart).

The Surface 3 features the following;

• a 10.8 inch display with a sharp and vivid resolution of 1920x1280 (...resolution basically explains the pixel density of a screen, how they are arranged vertically and horizontally. in effect, the number of pixels determine how sharp the screen will be in color details).
• a Quad Core Intel Atom x7 processor (...very new processor from Intel, will run without a hitch).
• it has a single USB 3.0 port, Bluetooth, Micro SD card reader and a micro USB port. 
• the back features a 8.0 MP camera with a 3.5 MP camera in front.
• stereo speakers are fully on-board.
• up to 10 hrs battery life (...based on movie playback, which is a lot of hours then).
• Magnesium Alloy and Ceramic build design with a slim waist line of 8.7mm (...that is really thin).
• it will run Windows 8.1 plus Windows Pro for business user, the device will be upgraded to Windows 10 once released, a one year Office 365 Personal free subscription comes pre-installed with 1TB of free online storage (...this could not get any better).
• the device can and will run desktop apps and not mobile apps only (...any Windows software can be installed on it).
• the design is fan free thus no noise and annoying heat discharges (...it should feature the same cooling system as the Surface Pro 3).
• there will be two packages, $499 comes with 2GB of RAM and 64GB internal SSD storage while for $599 you get 4GB of RAM and128GB SSD storage. note that both are wi-fi models only.
• a 4G LTE version will be released later down the year.

There is more to know so a little stop at Microsoft's main site will satisfy your remaining curiosity.

Our thoughts:

We LOVE this Tablet PC and we definitely see it replacing a lot of students and casual business workers laptops soon. its compact, stylish, very well built, runs full windows OS without a hitch and the price is just perfect (...;note, some flagship phones if not all are in this same price range for comparison). Microsoft have probably created the best replacement Tablet PC for the year plus the price is hard to scuff at.

The accessories on the other hand do come quite expensive (...the stylus and type covers) but both combined with the Surface 3 will give you a near irreplaceable PC experience.

VAIO Z SERIES ARE AWWWWEEESOOOOOME.

As far back as we can tell, we have always enjoyed the concept designs of Sony products. they just seem to blend beauty, elegance, style and performance into one at once and the result is remarkable (...always).

VAIO which was under the Sony brand till about a year ago but now with new owners Japan Industrial Partners, has announced today the release of the new VAIO Z series tablet ultrabooks and boy do they wow. there are two of them releasd, the VAIO Z and the VAIO Z Canvas.

The VAIO Z comes in two models that just differ with the processor chip in them, one with a Core i7 and the other a Core i5 (...both equally capable processors, everyday users will enjoy the Core i5 without complains and power users the later).

The VAIO Z comes with a 13.3 inch display, an aluminium carbon build, a hinge that transforms it to a tablet when closed and power output that can guarantee up to 15hrs of usage (...wow!). What we dont know about the device right now but speculate are; SSD (...Solid State Drive, we've covered this before) of probably 256gb or more, RAM of 16gb or more and both front and back cameras of impressive quality (...probably as seen in their Xperia series).


The VAIO Z Canvas is a detachable tablet but a full blown PC nonetheless. Once detached from the keyboard, it can stand thanks to a kick stand at the back, which gives the tablet with its keyboard a desktop look (...you've got to love it).

The specs of the VAIO Z Canvas are more known and are as follows;

• 12.3 inch display.
• Core i7 processor.
• 256GB SSD.
• 16GB RAM.
• Stylus inclusive.

Pricing for the VAIO Z is about $1600.00 (...hmmm, dont want to think it in Naira now) as preorders can be made but we thinks its only in Japan at the moment. The VAIO Z Canvas is still due in May and no word about pricing yet nor global availability.

Our thoughts, we love both devices. carrying such power in stylish forms is a welcomed concept any day. the VAIO Z Canvas tablet we predict will become more of a favorite to the populous than the laptop VAIO Z model as the concept of having a handy powerful tablet PC is more in demand than laptop style these days. we definitely will keep an eye on these and wish Sony all the best with them.
Now we know what we want for our next birthday (...one of what we want, lol!).
