Nokia…yes,
the tech company that every average joe thought was dead and gone, then bought
over my Microsoft, have made a rather boggling announcement…wait for
it…wait…aha! An android tablet. Yeeeaaaaaa….wwwhhhaaaaaaa??? Yes, we know your
thoughts but we’re not going there.
Design
and build of the Nokia N1 tablet bears an uncanny resemblance to the iPad mini
and even the dimensioning are likewise similar. Complete with aluminium unibody
and gorilla glass 3 screen (scratch resistance so you know) and lower speaker
grills, really Nokia…iPad mini much.
The
Nokia N1 has a pretty good specs sheet and it comes with Android L out of the
box which is a splendid move by them packed also with their dedicated launch
screen which looks pretty useful and neat (some people should learn, WE DON’T
WANT YOUR BLOAT WARES NO MORE *looking at Sammy*).
All
in all, we can say this new release from Nokia will strangely push it ahead of
the competition and bring in really good sales for them. Why?...well;
1. Nokia
has a brand name people will always seek in the event of a new product in a
clustered sector over most competition globally.
2. The
device is built with good (mid high range) specs and will be running the latest
version of Android at stock level coupled with a pretty decent launcher on top
which has a good chance of being removed based on user preference.
3. Nokia
has a way of making their products available from anywhere, coupled with good
pricing the N1 will be a steal for old tablet users and new ones alike.
The
introduction of this device was quite on a low key and it seems has worked in
Nokia’s favour giving little room for competition to react.

The
Nokia N1 will be launched early 2015 at a price tag of $250 (N40-45k...makes
sense), it will be interesting to review one up close but till then, keep your
eyes on this one...we can see good things coming.

thoughts: Not campaigning for Nokia but we are quite interested to see how the
N1 works for them and what may/ will follow suite afterwards.
