CAN YOU SAY OFFICIAL WITH A Z???...XPERIA Z4 CAN.

 Hey there, having a slow week like us we hope (...as besties) but still bits of tech gist to scoop on like this one, yep Sony is at it. We posted a podcast (...FOXCAST) earlier back some days about the new Xperia device in the works (...if you missed it, here FOXCAST Tech News Round up ) and now we bring to you a more official round up on the device.

The Xperia Z4 has been confirmed by Sony as a flagship device (...please we already cleared what flagships are, premium high end devices) to be launched sometime in May or June with upgraded specs from previous flagship the Xperia Z3.
Lets brief you on what the Xperia Z4 will be packing;

  • thinner and lighter build over the Z3 (...iPhone 6 thin actually), aluminum frame with glass front and back.
  • comes in White, Black, Copper and Aqua green (...ooook, nothing off here).
  • dust and water proof, 5ft for 30mins (...we wouldn't recommend beach water though).
  • top end chipset, Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core with speeds up to 2GHZ (...you most likely wont be able to tell performance difference from the Z3 or most 2014 flagships).
  • 3GB of RAM (...for app processing) and 32GB base internal memory expandable via MicroSD card.
  • 20MP rear camera with 5MP selfie with wide angle lens to capture more...er, people (apparently the camera is old tech, like a year or more tech WTH???).
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop with light Sony skin (...nothing less would be expected).
  • 5.2" screen size with very sharp, vibrant and legible quality display (...not QHD though, but HD nonetheless).
  • 2930mAh battery with stamina mode (...Z3 had a 3100mAh battery, hmmm Sony better make this work).
  • will cost about $650, available in Japan only at launch to be later released to the other parts of the world. (...we still love the Z3 Compact, and its way cheaper).
There, convinced about an upgrade? well, if you are using a device thats been out for years (...possibly no more software upgrade from its manufacturer) and youve got a fat budget to upgrade, then sure, look the Xperia Z4 up in anticipation. However, if you're using a device that's from 2014, we advice you perhaps sit this one out (...unless you're obsessed with making a statement by buying new stuff for fun).
Our thoughts:
Yes the Xperia Z4 seems like a wonderful device to behold, the sleek slimmer and lighter build, upgraded OS and power under the hood are all very exciting. One must wonder though, between the relatively new Z3 and the very new Z4, the specs are not staggering to blow your top off for, the old camera hardware is meh, the dropped battery will see shorter time usage and the colors are just plain...er...this is odd. We would like to see an all metal build soon as the glass back over the years has seen one complain to many about shattering too easily.

We did warn Sony about its 6 months flagship release interval stating that it has a higher tendency to be problematic cost wise, 6 months is quite short to expect tech used to have impressively drastic power ups plus at the cost of getting a flagship, it wont fly with the majority (...which is where profit lies, the majority).
we love the design, build and internals (...mostly), at least over other flagships released recently the Xperia Z4 retained its premium metal/glass build, water and dust proof ability, use of external storage and close to stock Android build (...hope some Company are taking notes, don't always throw away all what your brand stood for just to be "different").
Thumbs up Sony and good luck (...we still want the Xperia Z3 Compact).
